Electrical Engineer, Burgess Hill, 6 month contract.
Planet Forward are working closely with an established Aerospace/Defence Organisation who provide solutions to the most complex simulation and training challenges for a variety of military & commercial customers around the world. This role involves the design, test & documentation of electrical hardware which is embedded within a variety of their products such as Projectors, Handsets, Display Control PC’s and Alignment Systems, as well as providing electrical support to their in house Mechanical Design team and performing Product Safety testing at an external test house.
Key Accountabilities:
* Design, test and documentation of hardware based on established design requirements and design approach. Knowledge of printed circuit board schematic and layout processes, design to cost, component selection.
* Troubleshoots electrical devices problems to ensure that issues are resolved efficiently.
* Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, and equipment.
* Analyses and evaluates new or improved electronic components for exiting components.
* Participates in technical preparations for new product development and implementation to ensure new products meet the required specifications.
* Determines material and equipment needs and orders supplies to ensure sufficient resources for project completion. Designs electrical equipment, and products for commercial purposes.
* Participate in cross-functional team efforts in definition, integration, verification, and validation of products and sub-systems.
* Perform debugging and integration of components into existing products.
* Contribute to hardware engineering requirements capture and analysis in area of domain expertise.
* Contribute to technical presentations and support customer demonstrations in domain area. Identify the root cause of hardware issues using appropriate debug and analysis tools.
Qualification/ Essential Skills
* Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline, with appropriate proven experience.
* A good understanding of electronic and electrical principles
* Electronic board level handling, repair and through-hole and surface mount component replacement experience
* A good understanding of test equipment
Desirable Skills
* Board level design
* CADSTAR development tool use
* Embedded Programming
* Basic programming skills in Visual Basic (VBA), Batch files
