Job Details
The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is a global research and learning organisation for equitable and sustainable change, based in Brighton.
Action on Children’s Harmful Work in African Agriculture (ACHA) is a new, 7-year, collaborative research programme that is due to start at IDS in January 2020. The programme will build evidence on the forms, drivers, and experiences of harmful children’s work and effective preventative interventions. We are looking for a successful programme manager to provide overall coordination and supervision of all ACHA activities with a particular emphasis on (a) management and coordination of the ACHA project management and administrative team, (b) overall monitoring and planning in relation to the budget, and (c) oversight of the overall research and communications programme, including oversight of all reporting to donors. More simply, the Programme Manager will act as the central node in the overall coordination and oversight of ACHA staff, budgets and programme, working in close partnership with the Co-Executive Directors.
Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and management skills, strong budget planning and financial management skills and the ability to oversee a broad and complex research, communications and capacity building programme, think strategically about it and communicate it effectively to donors and other external stakeholders. Previous work experience with or for DFID or other bilateral or multilateral donor agencies is desirable.
Our vision is of equal and sustainable societies, locally and globally, where everyone can live secure, fulfilling lives free from poverty and injustice.
