@ College Academic Coach

As a @College Academic coach you will work with 14-16 aged learners with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). These students will have identified challenging behaviours. You will devise individualised programmes to engage them in learning, liaising with curriculum staff to build innovative bespoke classes.  You will support their academic progress and devise monitoring processes to track progression and outcomes. To identify potential students for the programme you will attend meetings with Local authorities and other professional bodies. On completion of the course you will support students to transition onto full-time college programmes.

Job Purpose

  • To undertake teaching activities in the curriculum area, ensuring a high quality of provision, in response to learners’ needs.
  • To work collaboratively and innovatively with managers and colleagues to design, develop, manage and review programmes in the curriculum area.
  • To ensure that student needs are met in a responsive way, in line with the concept of inclusive learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • To undertake teaching and learning related activities, including tutoring/ mentoring as required.
  • To ensure that appropriate learning materials are prepared with assessments and assignments undertaken in a timely manner.
  • To undertake administration tasks which will include reports, statistics regarding student and teaching targets.
  • To take an active role in the achievement of high individual student retention and success rates.
  • To develop curriculum and learning activities, taking into consideration literacy and numeracy development, equality and diversity.
  • To understand personal responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding and Prevent.
  • Keep up-to-date with current issues, changes and policies relating to the educational and specifically SEND sector.
  • To participate in marketing activities and promote the College for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.
  • To attend meetings with other professionals and Local Authorities regarding prospective students and progression for current students on programme.
  • To devise tracking to monitor progression and soft outcomes
  • To develop curriculum provsion for 14-16 SEND students
