Crawley leads the way in terms of environmental management, sustainable travel and its carbon reduction programme. We are ambitious and have a passion for environmental issues, which is key in driving forward innovative ideas, making sure they reach practical project stage in order to champion environmental improvements. To spearhead delivery of our Sustainability programmes we are currently seeking to appoint a Sustainability Manager.
You will manage the Council’s Sustainability Team and drive delivery of the Council’s Sustainability programme, which comprises a growing portfolio of green infrastructure, sustainable energy and sustainable transport schemes. These include cutting edge and high quality sustainable travel projects, which are providing new bus, cycle, pedestrian and electric vehicle infrastructure. A number of these schemes are part of the £60 million Crawley Growth Programme, co-financed by the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership and in co-operation with West Sussex County Council, the Manor Royal BID, Metrobus and other stakeholders.
You will oversee the promotion and development of Crawley’s emerging Transport Strategy proposals, working closely with key stakeholders such as West Sussex County Council - the Highways Authority.
You will have extensive experience and a proven track record in leading the delivery of sustainability programmes, an excellent working knowledge of local and national sustainable development policy, excellent interpersonal and partnership working skills and you will be a strong people manager.
