Job Description:

Apprentice Production Assistants are responsible for timely, accurate production of livery components to the required standards.

You will work closely with the Production Team leader/ Production Supervisor to maintain production schedules and ensure production output satisfies client specifications and guidelines as well as PVLs own exacting standards. You will also receive full training on the different materials we use. You will be required to work within our busy production facility carrying out other sign and graphics duties.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Accurate picking, collating and packing of all livery output to required standards ready for despatch
  • Maintain Quality control standards set out in our QSM (Quality Management System)
  • Minimise wastage and rework at all stages of production
  • Achieve the production schedule as directed by Team Leader / Production Supervisor
  • Accurately record data for material usage and time on each Works Order Forms, Quality Management System and Clarity system
  • Following documented client preferences through production process and alerting Team Leader / Production Supervisor or Sales Administrator to any discrepancies or errors as early as possible
  • Packing and labelling items for despatch
  • Feedback on design and production improvements at all stages, in line with our Quality Management System
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, organised and safe workshop and work area at all times
  • Ensure all materials are stored carefully to avoid damage or injury
  • Assisting other Production Operatives and Team Leader as instructed and directed by Supervisor

Training to be Provided:

Apprenticeship Standards focus on Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) needed to equip your Apprentice with the attributes needed to become a Warehouse Operative and as such Crawley College will work closely with you as the employer to align Warehouse Operative Specific KSBs to real work competencies

With support from Crawley College, the Apprentice will develop and maintain examples of their work to meet standard criteria within an electronic portfolio with the programme delivered at the place of work.

Attendance to maths and/or English sessions if applicable.

Apprentices may also attend 6 optional monthly Behaviour workshops at our Crawley College campus (RH10 1NR). The sessions are based on the following topic areas:

1. 21st Century Skills (Teamwork, Goal Setting, Problem Solving, Time Management, Motivation)

2. Personal Brand – Professional Identity (Interpersonal Skills, Professional Relationships, Reputation)

3. Workplace Communication (Resilience, Communication Styles, Adaptability, Decision Making)

4. Organisational Values & Workplace Behaviours (Code of Conduct, Attitudes, Vision/Mission/Values)

5. Personal Development (Facing Challenges, Adding Value, Continuous Professional Development)

6. Skills for Career Progression (Knowing who you are, Importance of Change)

Expected Duration:

Skills Required:

> Basic computer skills.

> Reliable and hard working

> Attention to detail, consistency and high levels of accuracy at all stages of production

Qualifications Required:

Maths & English GCSE – C/4 grade or above

(would prefer but not compulsory)

Personal Qualities:

> The ability to work as part of a team or individually

> Demonstrate you can offer commitment to PVL

> You will need to be adaptable and able to multi task and show a willingness to learn new skills

> Flexible, self-motivated and punctual

> Able to take instructions and to listen

Future Prospects:

Full time employment and then the chance to progress through the company and train in one of our other departments, i.e. Design, Application and wrapping

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.9 per hour effective from 1st April 2019 This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
