The Role

We are recruiting a Roving Receptionist to provide receptionist, administration and secretarial cover and support for our nine offices: Brighton, Lewes, East Grinstead, Eastbourne, Seaford, Crawley,  Storrington and Pulborough. When cover is not required, you will be working alongside the Central Admin team at Lewes.

The main tasks will include working on a reception, meeting and greeting clients, booking and setting up meeting rooms, general office administration tasks and supporting the legal departments with transcription typing when needed.

We also require this person to support Legal Advisers with secretarial and administrative tasks including accurate and timely preparation of correspondence and documents and to undertake file management. In particular daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the detailed procedures in the Office Manual or as required by legal advisers. Please refer to the Job Description for further details. 

The Ideal Candidate

A high standard of interpersonal and communication skills is vital, especially in the context of client care and we are looking for someone who has a positive and friendly matter in dealing with clients, contacts and colleagues.  Flexibility is vital due to the nature of the role and working at different offices at short notice.

Ideally you will have good keyboard skills, excellent spelling and grammar and be efficient and well organised. Competency in the firm’s computer facilities and other systems as appropriate will be beneficial, particularly Peppermint, Outlook, and Word.

Working hours are 8.30am – 5.30pm, Monday – Friday.

Due to the nature of this role, preference will be given to those that can drive and have use of a car to travel to the different offices.

Prior to his legal training Martin worked in the arts for 12 years, managing orchestras in the USA and UK.

 

Katie White - Solicitor

Katie supports clients through difficult times by finding practical solutions to employment disputes. Her expertise covers compromise agreements, redundancies, contract disputes, disciplinary procedures, contracts and dismissals. After obtained distinction grades in all of her Legal Practice exams Katie completed her solicitor’s training at a Brighton firm. She joined Mayo Wynne Baxter in 2011. Outside work Katie is a winter sports enthusiast and a runner. She completed the Brighton Marathon in 2010 to raise money for a Sussex hospice and volunteers for several other charities.

 

Marika Maugham - Solicitor

An expert in litigation and employment Marika worked for Allen Ticehurst for 11 years before the East Grinstead firm merged with Mayo Wynne Baxter. Her clients include leisure companies, software developers and travel firms. Advising on the whole spectrum of legal issues that arise at work Marika is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. A graduate of the University of Sussex, Marika trained at a Westminster law firm before moving back to Sussex. Outside work she enjoys gardening and long walks in the country.
