Fantastic opportunity to join a local garage. Depending on efforts, progress and passion for the role, we may consider increasing the salary.

The apprentice will be helping the technicians with all duties, including:

  • keeping the work areas clean and tidy - we will be observant of what inclinations the apprentice has and try to nurture that
  • work with the technician you get on with the best
  • start by passing the tools
  • cleaning the tools
  • learn the terminology
  • change oil and filters
  • change tyres
  • more advanced jobs as time progresses

Training to be Provided:

The Apprenticeship programme enables candidates to work towards a framework of qualifications, as follows:

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair competence

Level 2 VRQ Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair knowledge

Level 1 Functional Skills in Math, English and ICT

Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

Expected Duration:

2 years

Skills Required:

Good English communication skills, computer literate with a good telephone manner

Qualifications Required:

Ideally, have some previous qualification in Motor Vehicle. GCSE English and Maths qualification beneficial

Personal Qualities:

Friendly, polite, reliable, with a lot of initiative. A can-do attitude and a genuine passion for cars.

Future Prospects:

A full time position or progression onto a higher level following successful completion of level 2

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour effective from 1st April 2018. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

Reality Check:

The closest bus stop is about 20 minutes away walking distance. It may be possible we could offer the apprentice lifts in our personal cars to and from work to a set point.
