1st Line IT Technician – Shoreham-By-Sea

We are currently recruiting for a 1st Line IT Helpdesk Technician for a client in the Shoreham-By-Sea – the role requires someone with a basic knowledge of IT who is able to resolve basic user issues. The client is a MSP and they will consider candidates outside of this area. The 1st Line IT Technician will have a well-rounded IT knowledge ideally with an at least 1 years helpdesk experience who is customer focused willing to work in a customer facing role.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Answering calls at a 1st line level
  • Completing password resets
  • Creating and editing users
  • Great customer communication and documentation skills such as procedure writing and service reporting. 
  • Experience of end user technical support, troubleshooting and root cause analysis. 
  • To ensure all support calls are logged, categorised and documented in order to ensure we
  • Provide the best possible service to our customers.
  • Attention to detail in ensuring support calls are managed to at least service level expectation. 


This role requires all of the following experience and attributes

  • Experience in coordinating IT support for end users, preferably commercial customers
  • Good customer awareness, ability to manage customer expectations
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective communication skills and style, able to explain complex issues to non-technical users
  • Self starter, self motivated, team player
  • Able to work under pressure and against timelines
  • Keen interest in technology and innovation
  • A good understanding of service support best practices

As many of the following skills is preferred

  • Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10
  • Apple OSX Experience would be a benefit but not required 
  • Working knowledge of desktop and notebook hardware and components
  • Windows Server 2008/2012/2012R2, SBS 2003/8/11, Active Directory Domain Services
  • DHCP, DNS, Group Policies
  • Exchange 2007/2010/2013
  • Server hardware knowledge
  • Strong Networking – including Broadband and Wi-Fi 
  • MS SQL Server
  • Microsoft desktop OS, PC engineering
  • Common desktop applications (Office 2003/7/10), Sage etc.

Ideally you will have at least 12 months experience in a 1st Line IT Technician position.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this full time role is £23,000 per year, dependent on experience.
