An exciting opportuning for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to work on the next generation of metal powder atomising equipment for the rapidly expanding industry of additive manufacture (3D Printing).

Working within the engineering team, the Electrical design engineer will be responsible for the design and support of the Electrical power and control systems for our latest machines. The ideal candidate will have experience in both electrical design and PLC control.

Our client are a market leader in this sector with over 30 years of experience, seeing rapid growth over recent years.

Core skills and responsibilities to include:

* Electrical system design using AutoCad Electrical - 3 Phase and Single Phase power, 24 VDC, 4-20mA, 0-10 VDC, Ethernet, Modbus, CC-Link etc.

* Electrical design of Control Systems.

* Detailed design and specification for manufacture.

* Analogue instrumentation including Thermocouples, Pressure transducers, Gas flow meters, Pump (pressure and Vacuum) controls, Motor inverters and Heating controls.

* Digital control of Valves, SOV’s, Hydraulics and Pneumatics.

* PLC systems (Mitsubishi Q Series, Pro-Face, Siemens or similar) with remote I/O.

* HMI integration (Mitsubishi of similar)

* Modular design of systems for cost saving and ease of installation.

* Hands-on setup, testing and fault finding of control systems, in the factory and the field.

* Manages own work load.

* An appreciation of large engineering Capex projects involving a variety of engineering techniques associated with the type of advanced material processing capital equipment we manufacture is highly desirable.

* Delivery of Design Modules according to agreed work time schedules.

* The ability to maintain and document all Design Office materials to stipulated Company Procedures and Standards.

* A proven knowledge and understanding of manufacturing bills of materials at multiple levels is essential, as is the ability to identify BoM cost reduction opportunities without compromising end design or performance results.

* Must be prepared to mentor and share their knowledge with other team members.

* Experience of the following is not essential but could help to support an application: Data loggers (Eurotherm), Machinery directive, Low Voltage Directive (LVD), EMC Testing, ATEX Equipment, CE.

* The ideal candidate will hold a Batchelors Degree equivalent or higher qualifications.

* Ability to work as a Design Team within a small and growing private company, liaising with other departmental teams up to and including Director level.

The role is predominantly office based in Hailsham, East Sussex but may involve some UK travel and short overseas visits in support of our worldwide customer base
