Contact supervisors needed on an ongoing basis. 

We have an exciting opportunity within the social sector for Contact Supervisors.

We are looking for flexible part time workers to support a long term contract with West Sussex County Council.

This is a role with opportunities to work variable hours and days.

Flexibility is key to this role and we are looking particularly for supervisors who can work Monday to Sunday regularly, but especially who have availability to work weekends and evenings.

Requirements

Processed in house free of charge - an enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB).

Own transport and business insurance is essential. 

About the Role

The Supervised Contact Team are looking to expand their pool of workers within WSCC through supervised contacts. 

Contact supervisors are at the heart of supporting families alongside the supervised contact team.  The contact supervisor’s role is to supervise contact between looked after children and their parents/families. As such the contact supervisor will liaise with The Best Connection and the contact team to ensure all contacts have the opportunity to go ahead. 

Contacts take place in secure contact centres and in the community. This will be decided based on the level of supervision required. Contact supervisors will need to feel confident in communicating the families in challenging circumstances. You will be engaging with children and parents prior to contact, during the journeys to and from contact venues and in contact. 

Alongside good observation skills and knowledge of child development, you will need good written and oral communication skills, IT skills and the ability to engage with families whilst maintaining professional boundaries. Previous experience with working with children and families is essential.

Contact Supervisors will be expected to write reports outside of contact time. You will need to use observations gathered during contact to write objective reports. 

Hours

There are no fixed hours but there are weekly opportunities to support 2-3 contacts a week across West Sussex, possibly more. 

Pay:

Contact supervisors are paid £9.25 per hour Monday to Friday and £11.00 per hour Saturday and Sunday. 

Supervisors are able to claim for; travel time, contact time and mileage.
