Here at GatwickDiamondJobs.com we have selected our chosen charity to support in 2014
.............................................................................................................................................................................

In October 2013 GatwickDiamondJobs.com launched our annual charity initiative for the second year running. In 2014 we will support ONE local charity / community group in the Gatwick Diamond area which covers Crawley, Horsham, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, East Grinstead, Redhill, Reigate in East Surrey and more.

Thank you to all the third sector organisations that completed an application – there’s such wonderful charity work going on in the Diamond!

We are delighted to announce the local charity who will be receiving our support in 2014 is the Golden Lion Children's Trust.

Golden Lion Children's TrustWho Are the Golden Lion Children’s Trust?

The Golden Lion Children’s Trust was founded in 1973 by people working at Gatwick Airport.

The charity supports children with special needs and disadvantaged young people from Sussex, parts of Surrey and of Kent. With the help of individuals, businesses and organisations the GLCT arranges projects and visits for families and school groups to a wide variety of activities ranging from sporting venues to theatres; cinema to animal sanctuaries; science centres to Legoland, for example. The volunteers bring their skills and expertise to make the trips special for the children.

What  We Do?

The GLCT enjoys new venues as well as regular favourites.

Christmas means annual favourites include Bluebell Railway Santa Special complete with entertainers; Olympia; pantomimes (oh yes it does!) and a Late Christmas Party for 100+ children. Throughout the year the charity takes children to watch local football matches; to showjumping events at Hickstead; events at the South of England Showground; to the Science & Observatory Centre, Herstmonceux; and the British Wildlife Centre, Newchapel. Additionally during 2014 there are plans to visit Legoland Windsor; Sea Life Centre, Brighton; Chessington World of Adventure; and the London Eye.

What Do The Trips Mean?

The Golden Lion Children’s Trust  projects support those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy many fun times – either through lack of resources; because of restrictions that accompany particular health issues; or lack of time or contacts to organise certain trips.

The GLCT aims to give all children on its projects the best possible experiences and strives quite simply “to bring a little magic into the life of the child with special needs”
